Simple Idea No. 4 - Give of Your Time

One of the most valuable gifts is time. Giving your time as a volunteer can be one of the most rewarding things you can do.

No matter where you live there are many ways to give your time. Organizations of all sizes are always looking for extra hands. A couple of examples include being on your child's school's parent councils, volunteering for different activities like breakfast/lunch clubs. Another example is visiting senior homes and chatting with residents who otherwise might not have visitors.

You will be amazed just how rewarding giving of yourself can be.

Simple Idea No. 3 - Woven/Knit Grocery Bags

Cut down on the amount of plastic grocery bags you use by using inexpensive woven/knit bags available in most grocery stores. While plastic bags are recyclable many more than are necessary end up in landfills.

Many stores also provide cardboard boxes (which are also recyclable) as another option for transporting groceries.

The fewer bags that end up in the landfill the better. Mother Nature would very much appreciate it!

Simple Idea No. 2 - Clear Your Closets

All those clothes in the closet you don't wear anymore can be donated to your local thrift store. Some organizations use donated professional clothes to help people prepare for an interview by helping find an appropriate outfit. They also use the money from the sale of the clothes to help fund their many worthwhile projects usually right there in your area!

In addition to larger organizations such as The Salvation Army, and Goodwill there are many smaller local charities who would be more than happy to accept your kind donations.

You'll be amazed at the space you'll have after you're done!
